Workers of Kizlyar Cognac Factory accuse head of Dagestan of insulting them
In Dagestan, the lawyer Patimat Abdulaeva, who is representing the interests of ten workers of the Kizlyar Cognac Factory, has filed an appeal complaint today against the court's decision to dismiss the workers' claim for defamation, lodged by them against Ramazan Abdulatipov, the head of Dagestan, who, according to the plaintiffs, had publicly insulted them by calling them "thieves" and "bandits."
Patimat Abdulaeva has explained to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the above lawsuit was based on media publications.
"The head of the Republic of Dagestan (RD) Abdulatipov, R. G., spread information in the newspaper 'Dagestanskaya Pravda' No. 187-188 of June 5, 2014, having blamed factory workers of being 'thieves', 'scoundrels' and 'bandits.' Besides, on May 28, 2014, in his exclusive interview to the portal named 'Kavpolit' (Caucasian Politics), the head of the RD treated the factory workers as 'hungry and insatiable cockroaches and rats.' Such statements of the head of the republic cause extreme indignation," says the statement of claim.
The claimants have estimated the moral harm caused to them by these statements of the head of the RD as 100,000 roubles each, and asked the court to declare the information published by the 'Dagestanskaya Pravda' and the 'Kavpolit' portal to be false, to oblige the respondent to refute them and to collect the above compensation from him.
