GPO blocks websites calling to rally because of fight in Minvody hospital

The Russia's General Prosecutor's Office (GPO) has blocked, at the request of its colleagues from the Stavropol Territory, the Internet resources, which posted calls to go to rallies related to the investigation of the mass fight in the hospital of the city of Mineralnye Vody (Minvody).

The mass fight in the Central Regional Hospital of Minvody burst out at night on September 21, and ended in a serious injury of the 31-year-old Anatoly Larionov, who died on September 29. Investigators have stated the detention of 26 suspects to date; seven other suspects are wanted.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the case received broad resonance after video records from hospital rooms were posted on the Internet. Residents of the city held a number of actions, demanding to investigate the incident; and Vladimir Vladimirov, the Stavropol Governor held a meeting with public activists.

The website of the GPO reports that in the course of monitoring, the Prosecutor's Office of the Stavropol Territory found that a number of websites had posted calls to hold unauthorized rallies on October 5 and 12 on the issues of supervising the criminal investigation and discuss the work of the police and local government, the GPO's website reported on October 14.

The GPO has stressed that the Minvody city administration had received no notifications about these rallies; therefore, the websites has no right to post information about them.
