Father of kidnapped Nabiev blames Dagestani law enforcers for inaction

According to the father of Djabrail Nabiev kidnapped in Khasavyurt, no criminal case has been initiated on kidnapping despite the fact that the incident took place more than 10 days ago.

"I do not understand why they are protracting with the opening of a criminal case. Yesterday, law enforcers called me and said that they intend to put my son on the wanted list, now, after more than 10 days expired since he had been kidnapped," Magomednabi Nabiev, Djabrail's father, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in the morning of October 3, Djabrail Nabiev was kidnapped in the vicinity of the Khasavyurt bus station. According to eyewitnesses, the kidnappers were armed and wore masks. On the same day, Magomednabi Nabiev, the father of the kidnapped man, has filed a complaint about the incident to the Khasavyurt GOVD (City Interior Division).

According to the father, after his son was kidnapping, he sent appeals by post to a number of supervisory institutions of Dagestan, including the Investigating Department (ID) for Dagestan of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) and the Dagestani Prosecutor's Office. However, till present, he received no responses.

"As far as I know, investigators did not even take video records from surveillance cameras at the bus station, where the incident happened. I can't understand why they are so inactive in running the inquiry," said Magomednabi Nabiev has said.

Officials from the Khasavyurt GOVD refused to give any official comment on the progress of the investigation into the kidnapping of Djabrail Nabiev.
