Dagestani court removes head of Derbent District from office
The Soviet District Court of Makhachkala has dismissed Kurban Kurbanov, the head of the Derbent District of Dagestan, who is accused of abuse of power, from office. This was stated by the spokesperson of the Investigating Department (ID) for Dagestan of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF).
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 1, Kurban Kurbanov was detained because of the criminal case of abuse of office instituted against him on September 17.
The Soviet District Court of Makhachkala has granted the investigators' motion to dismiss Kurban Kurbanov, the head of the Municipal Formation "Derbent District", from his post. This was stated by the message posted on October 15 on the website of the Dagestani ID of the ICRF.
Till present, no Kurban Kurbanov's comments on his dismissal from office are available.
Let us remind you that earlier the Dagestani leader Ramazan Abdulatipov announced his intention to replace the head of the Derbent District; and after that about 600 local residents gathered to protest against the dismissal. The experts interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" believe that when prosecuting Kurban Kurbanov, the law enforcement bodies act in concert with Ramazan Abdulatipov and the Russian federal government.
