Chechen rights defender Kheda Saratova suspected of holding unsanctioned rally

Kheda Saratova, a member of the Expert Council of the Ombudsman's Office under the Russian President, is suspected of holding an unsanctioned rally in front of the Predgorny District Court of the Stavropol Territory. The materials on her administrative offense are already at the court.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 9, in front of the Predgorny District Court, a number of activists held solo pickets in support of Imam Kurman-Ali Baichorov, accused of drug possession. The solo pickets were held by Fatima Alieva, the wife of the accused Imam, his sister Sapiyat Baichorova, and Kheda Saratova, a member of the Presidium of the "United Caucasus Forum".

On October 12, Kheda Saratova received a notification that law enforcers had drawn up a protocol on administrative offense against her under Part 2 of Article 20.2 of the Administrative Code (organization or holding of a public event without submission of a notification on holding a public event in accordance with the established procedure, – note of the "Caucasian Knot") "further directed to the federal court of the Predgorny District of the Stavropol Territory."

Kheda Saratova intends to appeal against the protocol.

Earlier, in her comment to the "Caucasian Knot", Kheda Saratova stated that no violations of law were committed during the pickets.
