Experts are skeptical about allegations on JAMWA's involvement in explosion in Grozny

The allegations of involvement of the Islamist grouping of JAMWA (Jaish al-Muhajireen wal-Ansar) in the explosion in Grozny on October 5 cause doubts, because of the source of the information. This opinion was expressed by Akhmet Yarlykapov, the Senior Researcher of the Department of Caucasian Studies of the Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS), and Alexei Malashenko, a member of the Board of the Moscow Carnegie Centre.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 5, a suicide bombing was committed in Grozny. An explosion occurred in the centre of Grozny before the concert dedicated to the Day of the City. As a result, according to the official information, five policemen were killed, and 13 other law enforcers were brought to hospital. Investigating authorities of Chechnya have pre-established the organizers of the explosion in Grozny and now are searching for them.

The message reporting that the Islamist grouping of JAMWA has claimed responsibility for the terror act in Grozny has been posted on one of the pages in the social network "VKontakte". As of 1:10 p.m. of October 17, the page was removed from the social network.

Pages like the one, which published the information about the involvement of the Islamist grouping of JAMWA in the terror act in Grozny, can disseminate both valuable information and blatant lie. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by Akhmet Yarlykapov, the Senior Researcher of the Department of Caucasus Studies of the Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology of the RAS.

Alexei Malashenko, a member of the Board of the Moscow Carnegie Centre, has also expressed his distrust to the source in his interview to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

"Too much time has passed [since the explosion in Grozny]. A terror act is usually an emotion, when terrorists think: 'Let's commit it and admit it.' And in this case, they were thinking over the case to write or not to write? If there are such hesitations and so much time has passed, then why should I trust the information?" Alexei Malashenko has emphasized.

According to the law enforcement bodies, the Islamist grouping of JAMWA acts in the territory of Syria, and it includes natives of Chechnya, Dagestan, and Ingushetia.
