MIA reports killing of organizer of terror act in Grozny

Aslan Aliskhanov, a militant and the organizer of the explosion in Grozny on October 5, had been shot dead today during a special operation in the Chechen capital, said the local Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that law enforcement bodies of Chechnya were actively searching for the 33-year-old Aslan Aliskhanov, a native of Grozny, who, according to power agents, had planned to commit a terrorist attack using a suicide belt.

According to the Chechen MIA, Aslan Aliskhanov was killed in the Staropromyslovskiy District of the Chechen capital at a detention attempt. He was on the federal wanted list for participation in illegal armed formations (IAFs), the MIA had claimed.

"He was armed with a submachine gun; and an improvised explosive device (IED) was also found on him. According to operative information, A. Aliskhanov was the organizer of the explosion on October 5 this year in Grozny," says the message posted today on the website of the Chechen MIA.
