"Levada Centre": situation in Ukraine affects Russians' opinion about Dubrovka terror act in Moscow
When asked about the reason for the terror act committed 12 years ago in Dubrovka in Moscow, most of the residents of the Russian Federation mention failure of law enforcers and corruption. One third of the Russian residents explain the deaths of the hostages by the law enforcers' failure to organize the evacuation. These are the results of the questioning carried out by the "Levada Centre". Meanwhile, sociologists note the decline of criticism of the authorities and treat this fact as the impact of the events in Ukraine.
The questioning was conducted on September 26-29, and it was a representative sampling of 1630 urban and rural residents, aged 18 years and over, conducted in 134 villages, towns and cities across the Russian Federation.
When talking about the reason for the deaths of many hostages on their release, 33% of respondents mentioned the law enforcers' failure to organize the operation to rescue people suffered from gas, 25% of respondents mentioned inevitable victims on the release of the hostages, and 23% of respondents said that people died, since the operation to rescue the hostages was conducted unprofessionally.
18% of respondents found that difficult to answer to the question of how successful the fight against terrorism in today's Russia is. Meanwhile, 47% of respondents attributed to it varying degrees of success, and 36% of respondents treat the fight against terrorism in today's Russia as failure.
In general, the specific feature of the survey is in the fact that significant groups of respondents found difficult to answer the questions presented to them.
According to Alexei Grazhdankin, the Deputy Director of the "Levada Centre", the settlement of the Ukrainian crisis may change the situation.
