Russia's SC postpones consideration of appeal on "Domodedovo" Airport terror act

The Supreme Court (SC) of the Russian Federation has announced a break until November 25 in the consideration of the appeal complaint lodged by four natives of Ingushetia, convicted for the terror attack committed at the "Domodedovo" Airport, because Bashir Khamkhoev has asked to give him time to get ready for the SC’s session.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 11, 2013, the Moscow Regional Court sentenced Islam Yandiev, Ilez Yandiev and Bashir Khamkhoev to life imprisonment in a special security colony. Akhmed Evloev was sentenced to 10 years in a same category colony. All of them have appealed against the verdict.

At the SC’s session on Thursday, Khamkhoev again petitioned to give him the materials on the verdict of the Moscow Regional Court to prepare his defence.

The state prosecutor objected to the requested postponement of the trial, arguing that all the convicts had about a year to get ready for their performance at the appeal instance.

As a result, the panel of judges ruled to support Khamkhoev’s motion and announce a break until November 25 to give him time for preparing his defence at the appeal instance.

Khamkhoev’s advocates were satisfied with the decision of the panel of judges.

"A person contesting his life imprisonment should have time to prepare his defence," said Tatiana Okushko, one of the advocates.
