Stavropol holds rally against deforestation

In Stavropol, Square of the 200th anniversary of the city hosted a rally in support of forests. The rally was sanctioned by the authorities, and, according to the organizers, it was attended by about 70 persons. The rally participants have adopted a resolution demanding to provide the public with a casting vote in matters concerning natural resources, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

The action was attended by ecologists, members of the "Yabloko" Party, and residents of Stavropol. All of them came to the Square despite the cold weather. This was reported to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by Vyacheslav Markin, one of the organizers of the rally.

"Residents of the houses located in the streets adjacent to the TamanForest were the most active protestors. They brought posters reading: 'Sochi Street is against Deforestation', 'Khopyor Lane is against Deforestation', and so on. Unfortunately, residents of other cities did not come because of the bad weather. In general, the aim of the rally is reached. We prepared a resolution to ban cutting down forests, and people spoke about that in their speeches," Vyacheslav Markin has emphasized.
