ECtHR to consider lawsuit filed by GLP on violations during municipal elections
The European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) has accepted for consideration the lawsuit filed by the Georgian Labour Party (GLP) claiming massive falsifications during municipal elections in 2014. This was reported by Shalva Natelashvili, the leader of the GLP, on October 27.
On June 15, Georgia held voting at elections to local self-administrations, including the elections of Mayors in 11 cities of Georgia and also in Tbilisi. The voter turnout reached 43.31%. The second round of the elections was held on July 12 in 10 electoral districts.
According to the leader of the GLP, Georgia still faces the crisis of the state, and one of the reasons for that fact is the imperfection of the electoral laws.
"The Georgian Prime Minister has proudly announced that there are no more falsifications during elections in Georgia. And today, the ECtHR has announced it accepts for consideration the lawsuit filed by the Labour Party in connection with the massive election falsification and unfit electoral laws," Shalva Natelashvili has stated as quoted by the "News-Georgia".
