Natives of Northern Caucasus picket Pirogov Medical University in protest against ban on religious clothing
In Moscow, natives of Northern Caucasus hold solo pickets demanding to lift the decree issued by the Rector of the Medical University named after N. I. Pirogov. The decree bans "clothing indicating particular nationality or religion", and it is to come into force on November 1, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
The solo pickets were held in Moscow on October 28 and 29.
"The Constitution of the Russian Federation guarantees freedom of religion and right to education. And the Rector's decree contradicts not only the common sense, but also the fundamental law of the country, in which we live. On October 28, we began holding solo pickets to draw public attention to the problem, to attract more powerful forces that would contribute to the solution of the problem," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Assadula Gasanaliev, a native of Dagestan living in Moscow, who took part in the picket.
