17 street children identified in Chechnya
In Chechnya, the authorities have initiated the preventive operation "Family". In the territory of the republic, 17 street children were identified. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent at the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Chechnya. According to the Chechen MIA, the majority of them are children of immigrants.
"During the recent two weeks, in the territory of our republic, we were conducting a large-scale preventive operation 'Family'. Our activities were aimed at identifying the parents, who fail to fulfil their responsibilities for the upbringing of their children, establishing facts of child abuse in families, and identification of street children and children in need of assistance from the state," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by a policeman on October 31.
According to the source, during the preventive operation, policemen detained 22 minors. Of them, five children were engaged in begging, and 17 were street children deprived of any care. According to the source, teenagers involved in begging and most street children are children of migrants from the republics of Central Asia.
