Mothers of many children from Volgograd complete series of solo pickets in Moscow

The mothers of large families who had arrived from Volgograd have completed a series of solo pickets in Moscow, where they demanded the fulfilment by the authorities of their due social obligations. On November 1, after sending their appeals to the MPs of the State Duma and senators of the Federation Council, mothers went back to Volgograd.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 28 Volgograd mothers of many children held their pickets in Moscow – at the reception offices of the Russian President and the "Edinaya Rossiya" (United Russia) Party. On October 31, one of them, Nadezhda Kireeva, was detained during her solo picket, but soon released on the same day.

In their appeals, mothers asked senators to address, in an extraordinary manner, the issue of the provision of housing to large low-income families in need of better housing conditions.

A similar appeal was sent to Galina Khovanskaya, an MP of the State Duma and the chair of the parliamentary committee on housing policy and housing and communal services.

In their appeal to Elena Mizulina, another MP of the State Duma, mothers of large families asked to increase their allowances.

Mothers said that they left Moscow "quite disappointed." At the reception office of the President, they were told that their problems should be solved at the regional level.
