Makhachkala hunger-strikers go to Dagestani Public Chamber to discuss their demands

In Dagestan, the hunger strike held by local residents in Makhachkala with demand for the resignation of the Dagestani leader, involves seven persons. The hunger-strikers chose their representatives to discuss their demands at the Public Chamber of Dagestan, of which they were told by Denga Khalidov, the Adviser of Ramazan Abdulatipov.

On October 29, eight members of NGOs from different regions of Dagestan declared the hunger strike. According to the protestors, they are trying to draw attention to the problem of corruption in the republic and seek for the resignation of Ramazan Abdulatipov.

Today is the seventh day of the hunger strike, and it currently involves seven persons. It is still unknown whether any of the persons who had to stop their hunger strike earlier returned to the protest action.

According to the hunger-strikers, their demands include the return of nationwide elections. Despite the fatigue and slight deterioration of their health state, the protestors do not intend to stop the protest action.

On November 3, the hunger-strikers were visited by Denga Khalidov, the Adviser of the Dagestani leader. He has listened to the protestors, discussed their demands with them and promised the response of the authorities. Besides, Denga Khalidov has also invited the protesters to discuss their demands at the Public Chamber of Dagestan.

The protestors have sent to the meeting Kazikhan Kurbanov, a member of the Anti-Corruption Council of the Tabasaran District, and Maksud Gadjiev, the editor-in-chief of the newspaper "Akhvakh People".
