Participants of festival "Dances over Elbrus" present creativity of various nations to KBR residents
Dance groups from the Caucasus, countries of Europe and the Middle East have performed in Nalchik at the Festival "Dances over Elbrus". On Tuesday, they travelled outside the KBR capital to give concerts in other parts of the republic.
The Fourth International Folklore Festival "Dances over Elbrus" is held on November 2-5 with participation of groups from nine countries.
The opening of the festival was held on November 2 at the State Music Theatre, where Lyubava Moreva, a representative of the UNESCO, stressed that the non-material culture is very vulnerable in the context of globalization; and the aim of such festivals is to preserve and restore the intangible cultural heritage and its delivery from generation to generation.
In the morning on November 3, the Kabardino-Balkarian State University held a feast of national costumes "Ornament of the World" with the participation of the guests of the festival. They saw Kabardian ceremonies, including the uneishe – the rite of getting acquainted with the bride.
The festival will end on November 5, when the State Musical Theatre will host a gala concert and awarding of the participants.
