Hunger strikers in Makhachkala intend to continue until their demands are fulfilled
The hunger strike of public activists who demand resignation of Ramazan Abdulatipov continues in Makhachkala. The protesters intend to go on until their demands are satisfied.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 29 eight NGO activists from different regions of Dagestan announced a hunger strike stating their attempt to draw attention to the corruption widespread in the republic and achieve resignation of the republic's leader Ramazan Abdulatipov.
On November 4, the Public Chamber of Dagestan hosted a sitting of members of the union of republic's NGOs named "Otechestvo" (Fatherland), where they discussed, among other things, the above hunger strike. According to the hunger-strikers, the sitting called upon them to stop the action, since, in their opinion, it was not a constructive way to solve problems.
According to the latest data, there are seven hunger-strikers remaining, after Magomed Guseinov, a public activist from the settlement of Krasnoarmeisk was forced to stop his participation for health problems.
According to the remaining protesters, their health status is satisfactory, although doctors advised him to stop the hunger strike, as it may harm their health.
