Makhachkala hunger-strikers interrogated by prosecutors
Employees of the Prosecutor's Office have visited the hunger-strikers who demand resignation of the head of Dagestan Ramazan Abdulatipov. During the interrogation of the protesters, much attention was paid to the persons of the organizers of the action.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 29 eight NGO activists from different regions of Dagestan announced a hunger strike stating their attempt to draw attention to the corruption widespread in the republic and achieve resignation of the republic's leader Ramazan Abdulatipov.
Today, the protesters were visited by three employees of the Leninsky District Prosecutor's Office of Makhachkala.
"Employees of the Office were sent to the hunger-strikers to learn about their demands. On the results of this meeting, they should make a report and send it to the officials of the Office. Then we'll check the problems raised by the protesters, whether there are violations of the law, to which the Office should react," Tatiana Golubova, head of the press service of the Prosecutor's Office, reported.
Ruslan Rasulov, the head of the office of the regional branch of the "Spravedlivaya Rossiya" (Fair Russia) Party, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the visiting prosecutors were interested not so much in the protesters' demands, but in the organizers of the action.
Nevertheless, the protesters told the prosecutors about their demands. "The main ones concern the fight against corruption, protection of the rights of indigenous nations and social guarantees to the population," said Ruslan Rasulov.
Besides, Kazikhan Kurbanov, one of the hunger-strikers, told about the problems of residents of the village of Gimry and settlement of Vremenny, where a special operation is underway for 1.5 months.
