Arrest of figurant of the case of mosque riots appealed against in Makhachkala
The advocate of Rasul Magomedkadiev, accused of riots outside a mosque in Makhachkala has appealed against the arrest of his client. The detainee’s wife has stated a violation of his rights by law enforcers.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 31 a conflict broke out between parishioners and policemen, who began detaining believers at the mosque located in Hungarian Fighters Street. During the riots power agents used tear gas and opened fired into the air.
The arrest of Rasul Magomedkadiev, a resident of Makhachkala, born in 1991, was appealed against by his advocate Israpil Gadadov on Wednesday, November 5. The appeal was lodged to the Sovietskiy District Court of Makhachkala, said the lawyer.
In relation to all the four defendants in the case of riots near the mosque, a criminal case was opened under Part 2, Article 213, of the Russian Criminal Code (hooliganism committed by a group of persons against an official who is on duty protecting the public order).
Relatives of Rasul Magomedkadiev assert that they learned about his whereabouts only at 4:00 a.m. on November 1.
The case about the riots near the mosque was delivered to the Investigating Committee for the Sovietskiy District, said a source from the ROVD (District Interior Division) of the Sovietskiy District of Makhachkala.
