Young NCFD residents sing Russian anthem on National Unity Day
The National Unity Day was celebrated in the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD) with rallies, concerts and folk festivals; thousands of young residents gathered in regional capitals to collectively perform the anthem of the Russian Federation.
The celebration of National Unity Day was held in all towns and districts of the Karachay-Cherkessian Republic (KChR). Its capital hosted a celebratory program "Fate and Motherland are One!" with participation of creative artistic groups.
The Russian people, living together, prove that they are the strongest and most cohesive nation, said Natalya Vlasenko, an MP of the National Assembly (Parliament) of the KChR.
The holiday was established in memory of the events of 1612, when people’s militia led by Kuzma Minin and Dmitry Pozharsky liberated Moscow from Polish invaders, Nikolai Khokhlachov, the chairman of the republic’s social movement "Rus", has reminded.
Elena Kalinina, a participant of the rally, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that it is necessary to inject the feeling of cohesion and unity in country residents since early age.
Grozny and other major cities of Chechnya have hosted solemn rallies and concerts.
Since the central Grozny was blocked, other streets of the city suffered from huge traffic jams. Fixed-route taxis and public transport also had to bypass the downtown, creating serious troubles for local residents. In particular, ambulances could not reach their patients.
