Five people go on hunger strike in Karaman
On November 10, in Dagestani territory of Karaman, five members of Tarki Jamaat went on a hunger strike demanding to allocate land plots for villagers of Tarki, Kyakhulai, and Alburikent. The hunger strike involves three men and two women.
"At present, this is a private initiative of several persons. This week, Tarki villages are to hold a gathering of residents. In case if they support the protest action, then the hunger strike could be treated as a coordinated action of the residents of the three villages," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Gamzat Khangishiev, a member of the Karaman community, the co-Chair of the Presidium of the Russian Congress of Peoples of the Caucasus.
At present, the specific demands of the hunger-strikers have not yet reported. "These demands are not the demands of some individuals. And we do not raise the question of the resignation of the Dagestani leader," said the member of the Karaman community. And he continued: "We do not care who leads Dagestan; the most important question is that his orders are to be fulfilled. Karaman residents demand fulfilment of the agreements reached in the negotiations between the authorities and Tarki residents. I'm talking about the allocation of 70 hectares in Karaman for gardener's association and the allocation of additional land plot to organize a settlement."
According to Gamzat Khangishiev, the appropriate instruction was received by the Government of Dagestan from Ramazan Abdulatipov; however, the instruction has not been fulfilled till present.
