Sochi residents recall their demand to revoke permit to build shopping centre, because of distrust to court
In Sochi, the initiative group of residents of the residential district of KSM gave up its claim to revoke the city administration's permission for construction of a shopping centre on the river bank. The activists have explained their decision by distrust of the Court.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 14, the initiative group of Sochi residents appealed to the Central District Court of Sochi with a claim to revoke the decision on the construction. At the previous court hearing held on November 5, members of the initiative group filed a number of motions; however, all their motions were dismissed by the Court. At the court hearing held on November 10, the plaintiffs announced their decision to withdraw their claim.
"Since the Court has dismissed all our motions, we have decided that the Judge is not able to make a legal decision, and therefore, we withdraw the claim," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Elena Dzaganiya, a member of the initiative group.
The defendant party was satisfied with the outcome of the case. In her turn, Elena Dzaganiya has stated that "citizens are going to protest to protect their rights, if courts refuse to obey the law."
