In Krasnodar Territory, Mikhail Savva questioned under case of "Levados" Centre Director
Mikhail Savva, Professor of the Kuban State University, sentenced conditionally for a fraud, was questioned by the police as a witness in the case of Elena Shablo, Director of the "Levados" Centre.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 2 Professor Mikhail Savva, who is also the director of grant programmes of the Southern Regional Resource Centre (SRRC), was found guilty by the Pervomaiskiy District Court of Krasnodar of a fraud and sentenced to three years of imprisonment. The verdict was appealed against, but on September 30 the Krasnodar Regional Court upheld it.
Mikhail Savva was interrogated on November 12 and had to sign a non-disclosure agreement. The case, under which he was questioned, was opened against Elena Shablo, Director of the non-for-profit organization "Levados". The "Levados" Training Centre organized lectures on pressing social topics and raised, among other things, problems of people with disabilities and migrants.
Mikhail Savva's wife said that she was expecting the arrival of policemen to make a search.
"What should we expect? A search of our apartment, presentation of new charges and a new arrest," Elena Sava, Mikhail's wife, is quoted by his support group in the social network "VKontakte".
Let us remind you that a number of human rights organizations condemned Mikhail Savva's prosecution, indicating that the professor was arrested soon after he criticized the law enforcement bodies for conducting audits of non-for-profit organizations of Southern Russia.
