At trial on Volgograd terror acts defence witnesses claim Magomedov's innocence
Today, six witnesses in the case of terror acts in Volgograd have confirmed the defence's version of the absence of any links of the defendant Ibragim Magomedov with militants.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 29 and 30, 2013, Volgograd was struck by two terror acts, which killed 34 people (apart from two suicide bombers) and injured over 70 other people.
Four natives of Dagestan, namely, Magomednabi and Tagir Batirov brothers, Alautdin Dadaev and Ibragim Magomedov, are accused of involvement in the terror acts committed in Volgograd. At trial, Batirov brothers rejected their testimonies, while Alautdin Dadaev and Ibragim Magomedov declared their innocence.
Today, six defence witnesses were given the floor, Said Ibragimov, Magomedov's advocate, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
"They reported that my client had nothing to do with militants and never promoted Wahhabism," said the advocate.
The lawyer Selim Magomedov said, in his turn, that today the defendants Dadaev and Magomedov confirmed that during the preliminary investigation they were exposed to violence.
"At the SIZO (pre-trial prison) they were visited by prosecutors and an investigator. Now we have to find out who had resorted to unlawful actions in the course of investigation. This issue will be discussed at the next court session prior to the pleadings," Magomedov has added.
