In Azerbaijan, relatives of detained mosque-goer Sokhrab Shikhaliev declare his innocence
Allegations of the Azerbaijani police that Zokhrab Shikhaliev, a resident of the village of Djorat, was keeping weapons were untrue and unreliable. This was reported by relatives of the detainee.
Let us remind you that on November 13, Azerbaijani policemen detained Zokhrab Shikhaliev, who, according to their information, was professing Wahhabism. Officials of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) have reported that the policemen seized weapons and prohibited literature from the detainee's place.
Samir Shikhaliev, a brother of the detainee, rejects the MIA's version about his brother keeping weapons. He believes that the weapons were planted by the policemen.
According to Samir Shikhaliev, his brother was brought to the Sumgait City Police Department. "However, at present, more than one day has passed, and we are not informed on the Zokhrab's whereabouts. Now, we are busy looking for an advocate," Samir Shikhaliev has said.
