Advocate reports on court's failure to issue records of court hearings on Ruslan Kutaev's case
The Supreme Court of Chechnya is delaying issuing the records of court hearings on consideration of the appeals against the verdict in the case against Ruslan Kutaev, the President of the Assembly of Peoples of the Caucasus. This was reported by Pyotr Zaikin, an advocate of Ruslan Kutaev.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 7 Kutaev was sentenced to four years of freedom deprivation, although he insisted on his innocence. On October 31, the Supreme Court of Chechnya considered the complaint against the verdict to Ruslan Kutaev and decided to reduce his prison term from 4 years down to 3 years and 10 months.
Although the examination of the appeal was completed on October 31, the Supreme Court of Chechnya has not yet provided the defence with the records of most court hearings. Meanwhile, according to the law, the period for issuing the court records in their final form is three days from the date of the announcement of the verdict in the case, Pyotr Zaikin said on November 14.
According to the advocate, he himself is engaged in parallel decoding of the audio records of the court hearings. While comparing them with the data included in the available court records, he finds numerous inaccuracies.
Pyotr Zaikin has announced the intention to file an appeal against the court records to the Supreme Court of Chechnya.
