In Grozny, stores of Islamic goods subjected to large-scale inspections
In Grozny, law enforcers and representatives of the Muslim clergy held a series of inspections in the stores selling Islamic products, where they searched for the banned religious literature. The inspections were carried out throughout the whole week, and the law enforcers acted together with the representatives of the Muslim clergy. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by a staff member of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) for Chechnya.
According to the source, during the inspections, several times the law enforcers and the representatives of the Muslim clergy discovered in the stores and retail outlets the books and pamphlets included in the list of banned literature.
Employees of the stores argue they do not always know exactly which books are included in the list of banned literature, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Khasan, an owner of a store selling Islamic goods.
"If we only had the complete list of banned literature, it would be much easier. And now, prosecutors and policemen from time to time come to us to conduct inspections and always find something forbidden. This time, it was as usual. We have withdrawn from sale some banned books long time ago; however, now, it turns out that there are new bans," Khasan told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
