Main Karaman hunger-strikers replaced

On Monday, six out of seven hunger-strikers in Karaman quitted the action and were replaced by other six persons – residents of the settlements of Tarki, Kyakhulai and Alburikent. The seventh protester of the action that began on November 10 – the pensioner Ibragim Magomedov – refused to stop the hunger strike, said Gamzat Khangishiev, a co-chairman of the Presidium of the Russian Congress of Caucasian Nations.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 10 five villagers from the Tarki District went on a hunger strike demanding to restore the Tarki District with adding the territory of Karaman and Mount Tarki-Tau to it. Also, the protesters intend to stop the persecution of leaders of villages' public councils.

As explained by Gamzat Khangishiev, the health condition of six hunger-strikers became rapidly worse; and they were persuaded, with involvement of doctors, to stop the hunger strike.

According to Khangishiev, the age of the protesters is from 28 to 63 years. At the meeting on November 15, more than a hundred people expressed their readiness to join the hunger strike.

On November 12, the protesters were visited by officials from the prosecutor's office and agents from the police and FSB, who were interested to know the protesters' names and the content of their visual propaganda items.
