Court session on appeal against recognition of "Don Women" Union as foreign agent postponed

The Zamoskvoretskiy Court of Moscow has postponed the consideration of the appeal against the placement of the "Don Women" Union on the Registry of Foreign Agents until December 9, because of the absent of a number of documents.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in July the "Don Women" Union has filed a lawsuit in the above Moscow court against the decision of the Russia's Ministry of Justice (MoJ) to put the Union on the Registry of the NGOs acting as foreign agents. On October 24, the Novocherkassk Magistrate Court postponed by three months the deadline for the Union to pay the fine of 300,000 roubles imposed for working without being registered as a foreign agent.

At today's court session, the "Don Women" Union has specified its demands, said Valentina Cherevatenko, the head of the Union. "Our advocate said that the Union received a notice (on the recognition of the organization to be a foreign agent, – note of the "Caucasian Knot") in violation of the three-day period," she explained.

Also, according to her story, the defence of the Union filed a motion to summon the witnesses who could confirm that the activities of the Union are not political.
