Karabakh War veterans blame Armenia's foreign policy for deterioration of situation in NKR
The incident with the helicopter in the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) occurred because of the wrong foreign policy of Armenia: after the country's accession the Euro-Asian Economic Union (EAEU), its position have weakened, which caused such actions of the Azerbaijani party, believes Vahan Badasyan, an MP of the National Assembly of the NKR. Emil Abramyan, a member of the political initiative "Pre-Parliament" of Armenia, has stated that the erroneous policy had turned Karabakh into a lever to control the Armenian people.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 12 a military helicopter was shot down in the contact zone of the parties in the Karabakh conflict. The death of three crew members was reported. According to the Ministry of Defence (MoD) of Azerbaijan, the helicopter was shot down during the attack on the Azeri positions. According to the MoD of the NKR, it was shot down when performing a training flight.
Zhirair Sefilyan, a member of the political initiative "Pre-Parliament" of Armenia and a Karabakh War veteran believes that "the Armenia's foreign policy pursued in recent years, and geopolitical processes around the region, have strongly distanced the authorities from people."
Earlier, Seiran Oganyan, the head of the MoD of Armenia, said that retaliatory measures to the destruction by Azerbaijani militaries of the Mi-24 helicopter will be "more than proportionate".
In their turn, military experts from Baku find the actions of the Azerbaijani party quite legitimate, and do not believe that the incident may provoke a large-scale warfare.
