Dagestan: Ibragim Magomedov quits hunger strike in Karaman
On November 18, Ibragim Magomedov, 55, one of the hunger-strikers in Karaman, decided to stop his protest action. He was replaced by Kamalutdin Badrutdinov, a resident of the village of Tarki. The health status of other hunger-strikers is normal, said Gamzat Khangishiev, a co-chairman of the Presidium of the Russian Congress of Caucasian Nations.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 10 five residents of Tarki villages in Dagestan went on a hunger strike demanding to restore the Tarki District with inclusion of the territory of Karaman and Mount Tarki-Tau into it, and to stop persecuting the leaders of village public councils.
On November 15, a meeting of delegates from the villages of Tarki, Kyakhulay and Alburikent supported the protest action and declared it endless. By that time, the number of hunger-strikers went up to seven.
"Yesterday, we finally managed to persuade him to stop the hunger strike. His health condition causes concern. I had to influence him via his mother. Now, he is at home. He was replaced by another Tarki national – the 44-year-old Kamalutdin Badrutdinov," said Gamzat Khangishiev.
According to his story, there are still seven hunger-strikers; their health condition is normal.
