CTO regime lifted in Derbent
As reported by the spokesman of the operative headquarter for the region, the counterterrorist operation (CTO) regime, which was introduced on Friday night in the territory of Derbent, Dagestan, has been cancelled.
The CTO regime was introduced at 1:15 a.m. Moscow time, when power agents blocked a multi-storey building, where, according to their version, two suspected militants were hiding. In response to the proposal to surrender, they opened fire and were killed at the assault of the building.
The Russian National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC) has reported that one of those killed was Velibeg Veliev, the leader of the so-called "Suleiman-Stalsky" militant grouping, who had been wanted on suspicion of blowing up policemen's cars. The person of the second casualty of the special operation was reported. Later it became known that one of the shots hit him in the head; therefore, he has not been identified yet.
The RIA "Novosti" reports, referring to the above operative headquarters, that there were no fatalities and injuries among power agents and civilians.
