Six pensioner continue hunger strike in Zverevo, protesters report

Six retired miners from the city of Zverevo, Rostov Region, continue their hunger strike demanding the return of the suspended payment of benefits for housing and communal services, despite their poor health condition, said Valery Dyakonov, the protesters' representative, who is also a Deputy of the Zverevo City Duma.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 12, residents of the city of Zverevo have declared an endless hunger strike demanding to return the suspended donations for housing and communal services.

According to Dyakonov, the hunger-strikers feel not very well. "It can't be otherwise, since one of them - Alexei Ozhogin – suffers from diabetes, another one had experienced a head and spinal cord trauma; however, Nikolai Kodzhaev is a strong guy – he holds. Yes, they all hold," he said.

Valery Dyakonov has noted that the authorities do not react to the hunger strike. "On November 19, I had a meeting at Zverevo police with Konontsev, the chief inspector of the MIA of the Rostov Region. For more than an hour I acquainted the MIA boss with documents and court decisions, which prove the unlawful deprivation of benefits – compensation for housing and communal bills to city veterans and invalids," said Dyakonov, adding that so far he received no answer from the regional MIA.
