Mirzamagomedov convicted in Dagestan was sent out from Chelyabinsk with burns, rights defenders assert
Nariman Mirzamagomedov, a resident of Derbent, convicted for involvement in illegal armed formations (IAFs) was convoyed from SIZO (pre-trial prison) of Chelyabinsk, where he was kept in the medical unit, with burns, assert the members of the Chelyabinsk Public Oversight Commissions (POCs). The convict's relatives and rights defenders fear for his life.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that earlier, Nariman Mirzamagomedov was sentenced to 15 years of imprisonment under several articles of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, including Article 317 (attempt on life of a law enforcer) and Article 208 (involvement in an illegal armed formation). According to his wife Fatimat Mirzamagomedova, while being transferred to one of the high-security penal colonies of the Krasnoyarsk Territory for serving his sentence, Nariman Mirzamagomedov was severely beaten. On November 20 the convict was visited in the medical unit of SIZO-3 of Chelyabinsk by members of local POCs, who confirmed the traces of beatings and told about fresh traces of thermal burns on Mirzamagomedov's face, chest and neck.
On November 24, Oksana Trufanova and other members of the POC of the Chelyabinsk Region – Yuri Vashutin and Vladimir Subbotin – again went to SIZO-3 to check the status of Mirzamagomedov, but he was already not there.
"We were told that the injured Dagestani with burns was convoyed away. They didn't tell us about the destination and refused to give us a convoying certificate," Oksana Trufanova told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
"That is, at the moment we doubt whether Mirzamagomedov is OK at all. We seriously fear for his life and health. My personal opinion is that they deliberately hide him from human rights activists and that it was someone's order from above," said Oksana Trufanova.
