Defence of convicts for terror act in Domodedovo Airport demand to revise the sentence
Today, the Russia's Supreme Court (SC) has considered the appeal complaint lodged by four natives of Ingushetia convicted for preparing and committing the terror act at Moscow's Domodedovo Airport. The defence asked to review the earlier conviction.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 11, 2013, the Moscow Regional Court sentenced Islam Yandiev, Ilez Yandiev and Bashir Khamkhoev to life imprisonment in a special security colony. Akhmed Evloev was sentenced to 10 years in a same category colony. All of them have appealed against the verdict.
The appeal complaint lodged by the defence of the convict Islam Yandiev, which, without challenging the reasoning of his guilt, however, states that the sentence of life imprisonment is too harsh and unfair. The defence argued that "Yandiev was actively involved in solving the crime, but the court refused to take this fact into account."
Yandiev's advocate focused on the fact that his client gave full and truthful testimony on the criminal case.
"According to information provided by him, a group of bandit formations was defeated," said the lawyer.
The advocate of another convict – Ilez Yandiev – said that he believed the verdict to be "illegal and unjustified"; and he considered that the reasoning of the court, namely, that Yandiev transported the suicide bomber across Moscow, and ensured his conspiracy and security, "are hypothetical in nature and not confirmed by the materials of the case."
