Three Makhachkala women suspend hunger strike demanding Abdulatipov's resignation
Today, three hunger-strikers in Makhachkala have suspended their protest action for a month after they had a meeting with an official of the City Prosecutor's Office, who promised to study the problems that had forced the women to go on hunger strike.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 19, a woman from Makhachkala Marzhanat Arslankhanova began her hunger strike demanding the resignation of the head of the republic Ramazan Abdulatipov and restoration of order in the work of law enforcement bodies. On November 21, Khadizhat Omarova and Patimat Alieva joined her.
Today, at 2:00 p.m. the action was suspended, Marzhanat Arslankhanova told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
"Today, apparently after the publication in the press, Yusup Shakhaev, Prosecutor's Assistant from the Makhachkala Prosecutor's Office, came to visit us. He listened to us, looked into our documents and promised to help in solving our problems. For the first time in many years, we were at least listened in humanly way. After the meeting, we agreed to quit the hunger strike. However, within a month, I won't remove our slogans from the walls. If the situation does not change, we will resume the hunger strike – maybe in Moscow," said Arslankhanova.
