Rights defender Elchin Namazov arrested in Azerbaijan
Elchin Namazov, Azerbaijani lawyer and rights defender, has been sentenced by a court to 15 days of administrative arrest, said his brother Akram Namazov, who explained to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that on November 25 the Khatai District Court of Baku found Elchin guilty under Article 310.2 (disobedience to the police) of the Code of Administrative Offences.
He expressed a concern that his brother's administrative arrest may be followed by criminal prosecution, because Elchin is kept at the Chief Department for Combating Organized Crime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA). Besides, the office of Elchin Namazov was searched; and all legal and other documents were confiscated, the brother has added.
According to his story, the trusted advocate is not admitted to the arrested rights defender.
