In Chechnya, local resident surrenders ammunition to police
A resident of the Vedeno District of Chechnya has voluntarily delivered a set of ammunition and a hand grenade to law enforcers, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed by a source in the Chechen Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA). The law enforcers initiated an investigation against the man.
"A 47-year-old temporarily unemployed man has surrendered 13 rounds of ammunition for firearms, 6 grenades for a grenade launcher, an F-1 offensive hand grenade, and a 23-mm calibre shell for automatic cannon of infantry combat vehicle. According to the man, he accidentally discovered the ammunition some time ago in the vicinities of the Vedeno District," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has been told by the Chechen law enforcer.
According to the source, the local resident, who has surrendered the ammunition to the law enforcers, is under the recognizance not to leave.
"Following the investigation, the MIA is to decide whether to institute criminal proceedings against the local resident," the source has emphasized.
