CTO regime lifted in Buynaksk District of Dagestan

On Monday, after opening of the Gimry Tunnel, the counterterrorist operation (CTO) regime that was in force in the Buynaksk District for 75 days was lifted.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the CTO regime was introduced in the Buynaksk District on September 17 with the aim to conduct a large-scale operation to search for and neutralize militants. On the following day, power agents blocked the settlement of Vremenny, Untsukul District, as well as the Gimry Tunnel that links the adjacent village of Gimry with Buynaksk and Makhachkala.

Within the CTO, law enforcers tried to reveal, in the Buynaksk District, the base of helpers to the members of the armed underground, the RIA "Dagestan" reports with reference to the local Operative Headquarters.

Let us remind you that on November 26 the CTO regime was lifted in the Untsukul District of Dagestan, which was in force since March 8. During the CTO in Vremenny, local residents reported about termination of the work of the school and kindergarten, foodstuffs shortages, and stated that power agents destroyed their outbuildings. On October 8, all civilians left the settlement and began returning home only after the end of the CTO.
