Said Amirov's defence appeals against the verdict at the ECtHR

The defence of the ex-Mayor of Makhachkala Said Amirov and his nephew Yusup Djaparov, convicted on charges of plotting a terror act, filed a complaint against the sentence to the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR).

"We state in these complaints that the verdict was based on the testimonies obtained by illegal methods. We refer to evidence of these people, confirmed by documents, conclusions of forensic experts, and assert the illegality of the verdict. After all, the only thing, on which it is based, is the testimony of a certain Abdulgalimov, the so-called 'Kolkhoznik'; and he wrote at the preliminary investigation and stated at the trial that he had been under physical and psychological pressure," Vladimir Postanyuk, an Amirov's advocate, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

According to his story, the complaints have good prospects.

"We have revised the practice of similar cases. The probability that the ECtHR will take our arguments is very high. If the court finds that the evidence was inadmissible, the verdict should be abolished," said the lawyer.
