Head of Chechnya figures in the case of threats against Ukrainian MPs

The Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) has opened a criminal case against the head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov in the context of his recently voiced threats to Ukrainian MPs, said Markiyan Lubkivskiy, an adviser to the head of the SSU. This information was confirmed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Ukraine, which has launched its own check.

On the night of December 4 militants attacked policemen in Grozny. According to latest reports, the fight resulted in 11 killed members of the armed underground and 14 lost power agents; other 36 law enforcers were wounded.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 5, Vladimir Markin, the spokesman of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) said that comments of a number of Deputies of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on the events in the Chechen capital on December 3 and 4 can be regarded as support for the terrorist attack on Grozny. The head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov demanded to detain the Ukrainian MPs in question and bring them to justice.

"I hereby inform you that the SSU of Ukraine has initiated criminal proceedings on the fact of terrorist threats addressed to People's Deputies of Ukraine by a citizen of the Russian Federation Ramzan Kadyrov, as well as has taken security measures in relation to those MPs, who received threats," Lubkivskiy wrote on December 6 on his page in the Facebook.
