Moscow court rejects complaint of "Don Women" Union against putting on list of foreign agents
Today, the Zamoskvoretskiy Court of Moscow has rejected the complaint, lodged by the "Don Women" Union against putting the organization into the register of the so-called "foreign agents" by the Russia's Ministry of Justice (MoJ).
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in July the "Don Women" Union has filed a lawsuit in the above Moscow court against the decision of the Russia's Ministry of Justice (MoJ) to put the Union on the Registry of the NGOs acting as foreign agents. On October 24, the Novocherkassk Magistrate Court postponed by three months the deadline for the Union to pay the fine of 300,000 roubles imposed for working without being registered as a foreign agent.
The court ruling to uphold the MoJ's decision was reported to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by Elena Pershakova, the advocate for the Union and the head of the legal division of the Foundation "Public Verdict".
"Today, the resolute part of the court decision was read out," said Pershakova. "I don't know the reasoning part; it will be passed within five days." She added that the Union would challenge the decision at the Moscow City Court (MCC).
