Local resident Jamal Makhmudov disappears in Stavropol

A resident of Stavropol Jamal Makhmudov, born in 1984, went missing on December 8, after policemen searched his house, his wife Madina told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

According to her story, her husband was not at home when policemen arrived with a search warrant. "I was waiting for my husband, but employees of the local OVD (Interior Division) came instead. They, I think, could intersect with Jamal, as his arrival home and their visit coincided in time. But the policemen assured me they did not know where he was and that they were also looking for him. Then, they searched the house and confiscated a computer and a couple of books; then, they took me to the police for questioning," said Madina.

According to her story, at the police department she learned that her husband was suspected under Part 2, Article 208 of the Russian Criminal Code (participation in an illegal armed formation (IAF)). "There, they asked me whether my husband had told anything about Syria; how I feel about the war there and the like. But I don't know why all this was for. My husband didn't leave Russia at all in the last couple of years," said Madina, adding that Jamal Makhmudov had never been brought to criminal responsibility and had no problems with the police. According to her story, the City Police Division asserts that her husband was not detained by them.
