Chechen residents report burning down of house of field commander Aslan Byutukaev
Today in the morning, in the village of Kotar-Yurt, located in the foothill Achkhoi-Martan District of Chechnya, a house belonging to the family of Aslan Byutukaev, who is considered to be the head of the battalion of suicide bombers named "Riyad-us Saliheen", was burned down, local residents told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. According to power agents, Byutukaev was in command of the militants' attack on Grozny on December 4.
Local residents reported to the "Caucasian Knot" earlier that on December 7 in the village of Yandi, Achkhoi-Martan District of Chechnya, power agents burnt down houses of three families of relatives of the members of the armed underground killed on December 4 in Grozny. On December 9, the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" confirmed the information of the "Caucasian Knot" about burning down houses of militants' relatives in Chechnya.
One of Kotar-Yurt villagers told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent on the phone that today the house of Aslan Byutukaev was burned down by armed militaries in masks.
"They surrounded the house belonging to the Byutukaev family, smashed its windows and doors, and then set it on fire. Despite the fact that the fire threatened to spread onto other houses, they did not allow to extinguish the flames. People were driven away by shouts and threats," said the source.
According to his story, those who burned the house down are still in the village.
According to the source, locals believe that the burning of the house was an act of revenge for the attack of IAF members on Grozny.
On the night of December 4 militants attacked policemen in Grozny. The Chechen capital was put under the counterterrorist operation regime. Most of the attackers took refuge in the House of Press, and some of them – in School No. 20; both buildings were blocked. According to latest reports, the fight resulted in 11 killed members of the armed underground and 14 lost power agents; other 36 law enforcers were wounded.
According to the republic's power bodies, the militants who attacked Grozny were members of the grouping of field commander Aslan Byutukaev, the leader of the suicide bombers battalion "Riyad-us Saliheen" (Gardens of the Righteous), created some time ago by the well-known Chechen field commander Shamil Basayev.
