Four persons killed in CTO in Nalchik
Today, as a result of the counterterrorist operation (CTO) carried out in the territory of Nalchik, four suspected militants have been killed in a blocked five-storey building.
At 8:35 a.m. Moscow time, the "Caucasian Knot" SMS-service received a message on the restrictions of traffic in Nalchik. "Something is going on at the corner of Kabarda and Idarov Streets. We do not know what is happening. The area is cordoned off, and all the cars have to take a bypass route," wrote one of the readers of the "Caucasian Knot".
The "Caucasian Knot" has been informed by a source in the law enforcement bodies of Kabardino-Balkaria about the CTO regime introduced in Nalchik. According to the source, at 7:45 a.m. Moscow time, the CTO regime was introduced in a part of the territory of Nalchik limited by Ashurov, Suvorov, Idarov, and Kabarda Streets. Law enforcers blocked in a private house a group of suspected members of illegal armed formations (IAFs). Residents of the house were evacuated.
After an unsuccessful attempt of negotiations, four militants were killed as a result of armed clash, Interfax reports with reference to the source in the law enforcement bodies of Kabardino-Balkaria.
Meanwhile, according to another source, the militants were killed as a result of an explosion of a shell.
At 10:40 a.m. Moscow time, the CTO regime was lifted.
