Dagestan suspends operation of radio station "Echo of Moscow in Makhachkala"
The radio station "Echo of Moscow in Makhachkala" suspends its broadcasts in the territory of Dagestan at the request of the "Roskomnadzor" (Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology, and Mass Media).
According to Zaur Gadjiev, the editor-in-chief of the radio station "Echo of Moscow in Makhachkala", officials from the "Roskomnadzor" still cannot explain the reason for suspension of the operation of the radio station.
"It turned out that the claims are initiated by the Radio Frequency Centre of the Republic of Dagestan. I contacted its deputy director; however, he told me that the Centre could not by default issue such instructions. At present, those who could physically suspend our broadcasts did that; however, no one explained anything to us," Zaur Gadjiev has said today on air of the "Rain" TV Channel.
Dagestani advocate Rasul Kadiev wrote on his Twitter account that the suspension of the operation of the "Echo of Moscow in Makhachkala" could be possibly caused by the radio programme of December 10 attended by journalist Orkhan Djemal.
