Azerbaijan: Leyla Yunus' advocates and Penitentiary Service state oppositely on her health
The defence of the arrested Azerbaijani rights defender Leyla Yunus states an aggravation of her custody conditions and continued health problems; however, bosses of the Penitentiary Service refute these facts.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that two members of the Public Committee for Monitoring Places of Detention under the Ministry of Justice, who visited Leyla Yunus on December 11, stated that she refused to be examined by civilian doctors, and that her custody conditions were normal.
Leyla's advocate Elchin Gambarov met her on December 10; and according his story, in the last days Leyla cannot receive medicines. He treated her health condition as "stably poor".
In his comment on Leyla's refusal from the services of civilian doctors, he said that next week he would visit it and find out the reasons for refusal. However, as he said, she does not trust the doctors appointed by the authorities.
Ramiz Mamedov, another Leyla's advocate, who visited her on December 9, stated that her health status raises fears for her life.
Madat Guliev, the head of the Penitentiary Service, asserts that her rights are observed, and pointed out that she was visited by NGO activists.
