In Dagestan, two witnesses questioned at trial of the "honour killing" in Chirkei
On December 12, the court session on the criminal case against Abdulaziz Abdurakhmanov, a resident of the village of Chirkei, Buynaksk District of Dagestan, accused of premeditated murder of his cousin, two witnesses were interrogated. The district policeman gave a negative characteristic on the defendant.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported referring to investigators that the 31-year-old Abdurakhmanov killed his 25-year-old cousin on May 30 in the village of Chirkei during a conflict on the grounds of the immoral, in his opinion, behaviour of the young woman. She received numerous knife wounds and died on the spot.
"Today, the court questioned the district policeman and another one, who was on duty on that day and was called to the scene of the crime. The district policeman gave a negative description of the defendant, saying that he 'failed to maintain relations with his neighbours' and 'was prone to criminality'," said Zulfiya Isagadjieva the defendant's advocate.
According to her version, she has positive social characteristics of Abdurakhmanov and will insist on adding them to the case files.
The experts earlier polled by the "Caucasian Knot" have criticized the situation with investigation of "honour killings" in Dagestan and noted that in the republic such crimes are still justified by the society.
