Experts doubt about reduced tension in Dagestan after murder of Murad Zalitinov
In the opinion of Mairbek Agaev and Milrad Fatullaev, the heads of the weekly "Chernovik" and the newspaper "Nastoyascheye Vremya", respectively, the murder Murad Zalitinov will not have a noticeable effect on the situation in the Dagestan armed underground and will not reduce the level of tension in the republic.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 12 power agents reported the killing, in a special operation conducted in the village of Gurbuki, Karabudakhkent District of Dagestan, of Murad Zalitinov, the former head of the Kadar unit of the "Imarat Kavkaz" and the head of the "central sector of Vilayat Dagestan".
Murad Zalitinov's involvement in a number of high-profile crimes is confirmed by documents, said a law enforcement source from Dagestan.
"The liquidation of this person, one of amirs of the underground movement, will lead to his replacement by another person. The overall picture won't change. But the events now underway in Dagestan, and recent events in Chechnya, indicate that, unfortunately, the escalation is on the rise," said Milrad Fatullaev.
In his opinion, southern borders of Russia "will see destabilization."
