Court session on MoJ's lawsuit on liquidation of "Memorial" postponed at request of rights defenders
The Russia's Supreme Court (SC) has rescheduled for January 28 the consideration of the lawsuit filed by the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) with a demand to liquidate the public organization named "The Russian Historical, Educational and Human Rights Society 'Memorial'". Officials of the MoJ have stated that there are violations in the documents recently received from tights defenders.
Activists of the "Memorial" have asked to postpone the session, referring to the fact that less than a week ago the "Memorial" delivered to the MoJ the documents on amending its charter, and the MoJ had no time to conduct a legal examination of them.
The "Memorial" has failed to confirm the sphere of its activities; the documents were submitted in violation of the regulations - in one instead of two copies; besides, the new statute has failed to take into account the changes in the Civil Code on order of managing corporate and legal entities that have already entered into force.
"However, all these violations can be eliminated," said a source from the MoJ, as quoted by the RAPSI.
A lawyer of the "Memorial" believes that all the previously fixed shortcomings in the charter have been eliminated.
The next session of the SC is scheduled for January 28, the TASS reports.
